Welcome to the NEW SimplyBloom Photography, LLC Blog

{ Capturing Modern-Day Love With A Timeless Beauty }

SimplyBoom Photography, LLC prides itself in its unique, vintage inspired style. Using natural light, creative eye, and unique processing we achieve the perfect blend of modern-vintage photography. Our work has been described as fairytale-like and dramatic. Our imagery portrays modern-day love with a timeless beauty.

We are Vania and Christine- The SimplyBloom Team

Beautiful and ordinary things around inspire us: light, laughter, dreams, books, the smell of coffee beans, vintage furniture, and all the colors of the sky. When we are not creating photography, we are probably sipping on cold caramel-flavored coffees chatting about it, in the company of our 4 furry companions.

March 1, 2010 - 6:43 pm Karen DeMamiel - I just love the work you girls do. Would you ever do a workshop in southern california? I live about an hour southeast of LA and about an hour north of san diego. If you did a workshop out here I know it would be ever so eventful!!!

March 2, 2010 - 3:51 am Martin - It's a shame you're so far away...it's a bit too far to travel from Western Australia just for this workshop ;-)

March 2, 2010 - 9:58 am Molly - This sounds so amazing! Sadly, I am a poor grad student and can't afford it now. I truly hope you consider offering a smaller-scale workshop in the future, so it might fit in my budget! I know MANY of my friends would take part if the price was a few hundred less. Thanks and I hope you try that in the future - love what you do!

March 2, 2010 - 10:27 am Hilary Mercer - If I wasnt already banking on WPPI this year Id totally be down for this. Please do another soon-ish!

March 2, 2010 - 10:46 am KellyS - OH NOT A WEDNESDAY! :( haha Im so happy you are doing the workshop! Maybe sometime in the future (hopefully you will decide to do another). Weekdays are no good for a mother from Houston, TX! Have fun, and the people who are going... lucky you!! :)

I, on the other hand am disappointed as my partner and I are way up in Canada! I think the two of you would LOVE coming up to Red Leaf land to host a workshop here. Especially BC- Vancouver Island and the Okanagan ( wine country) are gorgeous and right up your alley. The photogs here would be knocking each other down trying to secure a spot! One day, I will be there:) Can't wait to hear all about how it went!

March 2, 2010 - 2:18 pm Adria Schmidt - So jealous! You chicks would be so much fun to learn from! Come to SLC!

March 2, 2010 - 7:22 pm Ryan Gladstone - Fun!! Wish I could make it, but I've got an out-of-town client coming in for an engagement shoot this weekend. This should be a blast for the attendees. And...ummm..you know, a good learning experience.

March 3, 2010 - 8:29 pm blythe - i've been waiting for this workshop info ever since you guys took the poll a few months ago...i would so love love loveee to come to this, but GEEZ, soo expensive! how's a college girl supposed to afford that!?

March 4, 2010 - 7:35 pm Alex - :( Please come to Canada, haha, I want to attend this so bad. Wish it wasn't so darn far. But good luck on the workshop girls, hope all goes well!

March 6, 2010 - 11:46 pm dawn stoloff - I would love to do your workshop. I love your style, and am a fan of your processing. Unfortunately I don't think I can pull the investment together. V&C’s Reality Post No.9

So this reality post is a day late, and before you are quick to judge– we did not slack… we actually got so into this post that we spent way too much time on it.  We are constantly saying we like to live vicariously through our clients because we loved planning our own weddings so much, we could do it again and again.  Looking back, both Christine and I wish we would have known more about how many inspirational wedding sites there are out there. If you are a bride planning her wedding and looking for inspiration– check out the “Links we <3″ on the toolbar at the top of our blog. Which leads me perfectly into the topic of today’s belated reality post. We thought it would be fun to plan our weddings all over again. So this reality post could technically be titled: “Our Dream Weddings– if we could do it all over again”.

I personally had forgotten the intimidating amount of ideas, information, colors, concepts that are involved with weddings. It is truly tough to narrow it down: what color? what gown?  what venue? what theme? what flowers? … I think you get my point here ;)  In any case, we HAVE narrowed it down and I think our Dream Weddings would be pretty incredible…

reality-post1

Vania’s Dream Wedding:

This would be my do-over gown. My theory when it comes to THE gown is: “the more the better”

{gown by Alex Perry Australia }

1

My Decor would be almost identical to this. I love the long table set-up, it’s so intimate! and the numerous chandeliers are just enchanting

{photo via Style Me Pretty}

2

The following venue is something so dear to my heart, and I would make it my wedding venue in a heart-beat if I had a do-over! I would have loved to have gotten married where I grew up in Sorrento, Italy. Part of the yellow striped home was actually my grandparents’, I have many childhood memories there… they have now turned the mansion into a hotel.

3

I took this next photo on my last trip to Italy; It shows the cliff where the venue sits . The reddish building is actually where my parents got married!!

4

This is the groom I would choose…. oh wait I already did that! ;)

5

My groom’s attire would also have to be different & unique. I love the stitching & colors in the blue suits, but I am also loving these sharp gray suits from one of our weddings.

{left photo by: Amelia Lyon, right photo by: SimplyBloom}

6

The headpiece is in my opinion to die-for. It is not an exaggeration, rather a statement. I can guarantee that everyone who knows me personally and is reading this, is currently saying “yup, that’s very Vania”. The shoes are Ann Taylor, they too make me swoon.  All this peach-colored tulle is perfection.

{Head piece via Green Wedding Shoes, shoes: Ann Taylor}

7

My invites would look something like this. I absolutely adore the calligraphy & yummy vintage stamps on the right.

{photos via Snippet n Ink}

8

If these bridesmaids dresses were a kind of food, they would be Chocolate Souffles…

{dresses by J Mendel via Green Wedding Shoes}

9

My dream bouquet on the left, and my bridesmaids bouquets on the right.

{left photo via Snippet n Ink, right photo by Stephanie Williams}

10

My cakes would be a combination of these. I love the “Martha Stewart” feel they all have: fresh and clean.

{far left photo & center photo via: Style Me Pretty & right photo via Martha Stewart}

11

Hope you enjoyed peeking at the main elements of my Dream Wedding, now onto Christine’s….

My Dream Wedding would be a conglomeration of bits and pieces of all lovely things french and english (think marie antoinette meets pride and prejudice).

inspirationboard1

It would take place at gorgeous palace ( image 1) such as this one. You may remember this particular one from Mr. Darcy’s home in Pride and Prejudice ;)

The bouquet (image 2) would have to be a whimsical mix of pastel colored ranunculuses, poppies, and huge wild roses.

For the gown, I would still -to this day- go with the one I wanted to have for my wedding 2 years ago. The budget unfortunately did not allow for it :( It is a design by Melissa Sweet, called Fern. (image 3) The bridesmaids would be dressed in various styles of lace and tule dresses in peach hues. (image 5)

March 3, 2010 - 12:12 pm Jen - one of my most favorite + inspiring posts to date...LOVE it! :)

March 3, 2010 - 12:14 pm Jessica Magee - This was such a fresh idea, I love it! V - I saw a headpiece close to this the other day in a magazine I was flipping through at the grocery store checkout. Just looking at it made it feel fabulous! And C - I love the P&P theme you have incorporated throughout all your choices. Its very you. Is that weird to say? Since I haven't met you? I guess your blogs and reality posts are allowing everybody the privledge of knowing you! V - I also totally agree about the bridesmaids being chocolate souffles ... truly yummy!

March 3, 2010 - 12:14 pm Andrea - I think that attending so many beautiful weddings and looking at daily wedding inspiration is the only misfortune of being married before becoming a wedding photographer! So many delicious ideas, I can see why it took so much time! This was a great idea, I am secretly scheming a ten year vow renewal ;]

March 3, 2010 - 12:15 pm Jessica Magee - Oh and V - you should make that piece.

March 3, 2010 - 12:28 pm MoJo - I think you should have Wedding/s Part Deaux! Photograph it, film it, document it from conception, to implementation then have a wonderful 2 day workshop - How To - Dream Weddings Simply Bloom style. Have different subjects like: (1)getting married overseas - do's, don't's, (2)not being intimidated or scared of trends, colors, style (3) photographers workshop (catching the magic) (4) decision making 101 what we learned the second time around, how to keep focus on the end result(5) groom's session (6) etiquette all aspects dinner, family, friends... Just a thought. Then have them published in the magazines that love you (as they seem to all be catching on that you are the best) as a large spread at the beginning of wedding season! Go!

March 3, 2010 - 1:37 pm kym - These are a dream and it was so much fun looking at your dream weddings. I must say the Pride and Prejudice is the one close to my heart. It would have been more pefect only if you would have shared your dream rings! Do share.

March 3, 2010 - 2:00 pm Mayra Hodges - these are just lovely! both of them! i think of how i would have changed my wedding...but i can't complain...i adored it :)

March 3, 2010 - 4:09 pm AmyPunky Photography - Amazing inspiration! Thanks for sharing!!!!

March 3, 2010 - 5:02 pm Kayleen T. - I love this post! I love both of your weddings!

March 4, 2010 - 9:51 am KellyS - Love all the color elements, Christine, the table setting, FABULOUS! And V, the dress of choice... similar to what i have in mind, amazing! I love this post, full of stunning and elegant ideas! You ladies continue to impress! :)

March 4, 2010 - 1:48 pm jenny - LOVE all of these ideas! especially the cakes and the flowers!

March 4, 2010 - 9:17 pm Diana - Oh, these are gorgeous! What a great idea to :) V - I love your flowers and invitations E - I love your dress and teacups

March 5, 2010 - 1:06 am forget.me.knot.weddings - This is amazing! Love all the ideas and that dress I die! I want to go to this wedding!

March 5, 2010 - 1:16 pm JL_DESIGNS - awwww....you chose a bouquet i designed for vania's bridesmaids! so glad you liked it :) i love just about everything you girls do so keep up the fab work! wish we lived closer! xoxo, c

Olivia & Jamie’s Engagement { Colorado Wedding Photography }

Olivia & Jamie came all the way from Colorado for their SimplyBloom engagement session. Did I mention they DROVE !?! Olivia and Jamie are both geologists, and even though I am not really sure what their job entails, I am pretty sure I’m a bit jealous ;) They share a passion for traveling, the outdoors, and each other. The latter is very apparent in the photos below. This awesome couple will be making a few more visits to Huntsville for a Bridal session and a Short Film session, so this is definitely not the last time they will be featured on our blog– but for now, enjoy their engagement…

Weddings Weddings Weddings

So we have not posted a wedding in a while, have you noticed!? well that’s because our last few weddings of 2009 were ultra stylish and are therefore currently being submitted to different magazines and being kept “private”. Nonetheless we wanted to share just a few images from each on our blog. Each couple had some major style and each differing wedding was seriously stunning.

Let’s begin chronologically,

Rachel & Phillip–Oct.17th 2009– Huntsville, AL Wedding Photography

constitution village huntsville al wedding, early works huntsville al weddings, early works museum huntsville alabama weddings, roundhouse wedding.

In October Rachel & Phillip were married at the Constitution Village (part of the Early Works Museum) in Huntsville, AL. Their wedding was so quirky & overflowed with rustic details! Rachel & Phillip are such a cool couple (see their engagement session here). Rachel is an incredibly hysterical, super talented graphic designer and therefore she ensured the aesthetics of her wedding-day were flawless! (see her boudoir here). While the bride’s father was giving *the speech* at their reception, he made everyone chuckle when he joked that Rachel had “thrown together” the whole event in ten minutes ;) so funny! Sure the couple put in some serious hard work styling the entire wedding to reflect them, but it was so worth it and it was such a memorable event.  Sorry to be secretive with this one, but it has been selected to be published in the next issue of SOUTHERN WEDDINGS MAGAZINE out July 2010!

In November Madeline & Coby were married in Savannah, GA at the sensational Mansion at Forsyth Park Hotel. Their wedding was glamorous, classy, and sparkly. Chandeliers and delicate orchids adorned their reception site surrounded by mirrors which added to the overall glamorous feel of the event. You may remember M&C’s engagement shoot or perhaps her bridal session? or maybe her boudoir shoot? Their wedding was as stylish as we expected with such taste and attention to detail! Denee & David –Dec. 5th 2009– Charleston, SC Wedding Photography

charleston, sc wedding photographers. Charleston South Carolina wedding photos at the Wickliffe House weddings. Charleston modern vintage inspired weddings and photography.

In December…. We traveled  to Charleston, SC for what we did not know would be one of the loveliest weddings & couples: Denee & David. Their event was a mix of classic vintage with a touch of Martha Stewart ;)  and took place at the historic & elegant Wickliffe House. The bride GLOWED as she smiled and kissed her happy groom all day long. We were truly so honored to document their transparent love. Denee & David are the type of couple who inspired us while photographing them– their soft glances and sincere smiles made us shoot away all day long. David’s wedding-day gift to Denee were numerous records & a vintage record player; Denee’s reaction to the gifts was priceless. When she exclaimed “oh my records” with a huge smile, it was obvious she was really saying “this is the perfect gift for me and only David would know”. David deserves a shout out of his own on our blog  for best male in front of the camera! He and Denee were so confident and TRUSTING in our abilities, it made the day fly by with inspiration and enjoyment. Enjoy a few images of their wedding by clicking here:
